Good evening Lyndon. I am pleased that you like my Website- do you live in the North East of England? If so, you will be familiar with some of the topics that I discuss, particularly that North of Tyne communities are often over looked on BBC Look North and ITV Tyne Tees.
As regards Spam, for my own Website I do not have a lot and I just delete those posts that I think are irrelevant or are trying to sell me advertising space (if its so good, why do they have to target folk in this way?). I use Word press and there is, with each post, an option to block the senders (there is a link entitled “User Information” in the top right corner). There is, in extreme situations, the option of only allowing certain followers to view your Website, but if you do that you block hundreds of potential viewers who have a genuine interest in what you have to say.
You can also disable discussion on the Home Page of your Website, you might find that reduces a lot of the Spam- genuinely interested folk will read the articles where they can still comment. In WordPress, you can go to the Dashboard, select the home page of your Website and you will find the option of disabling discussion on the right hand side. However, I don’t know whether you have Word press but any Website- supporting platform should, if it is decent, allow you to specify which pages you allow commenting on.

To block comment on the Home page of your own Website, thats if you use WordPress, go into your Dashboard, select “Site”, then “Pages” from left-hand side. Click on your “Home” page then under “Discussion” to the right of the page there is an option to allow/disallow Comments- untick the “Allow Comments” box. That should deal with much of the Spam because Spammers tend not to investigate your Website and look at different pages. If you have a different Website platform you should still have most of these options, but they will be in different places to WordPress.
However, be warned. If you block comments on the Home page of your Website you might eliminate a good deal of genuine feedback too.
As regards Plug-ins, there are a number out there which you can experiment with, some are free of charge: website https://www.wpexplorer.com/antispam-plugins-wordpress/.
